A replacement church designed by Santiago Calatrava is now under construction a short distance from the original structure. I snapped the picture above returning from an appointment at the 9\/11 Museum offices. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brianrose.com\/wtcbook.htm\">My book, WTC<\/a>, will soon be available in the museum shop.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brianrose.com\/journal\/2017\/wtc_church_lg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7068 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brianrose.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/wtc_church-551x700.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"551\" height=\"700\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nSt. Nicholas Church, 1981 (4&#215;5 negative) &#8212; \u00a9 Brian Rose\/Edward Fausty<\/p>\n<p>The original church served a small congregation just south of the WTC on Cedar Street. The building, converted from earlier use as a tavern, stood alone on a parking lot. Photographers were fond of tilting up at the cross with the Twin Tower rising above.
